CPH IS PUSHING AGENDA WITHOUT ENGAGEMENT

Cal Poly Humboldt claims to be known for its commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and community. However, actions taken by the university administration have sparked controversy and concern. In the middle of the Fall 2023 semester, students were notified of a mass-eviction of anyone living in their vehicles on campus. According to 2018 study, 1 in 5 CPH students have experienced homelessness, nearly twice the Cal State average. Not only does this decision impact current students on a path to graduation, but untold numbers of future students as the campus has failed to properly plan for a projected doubling of enrollment.

MAY 2019

Tom Jackson, Jr. became Cal Poly Humboldt’s eighth president. “In business, like in aviation, you have to make decisions,” says Tom Jackson, Jr., president of California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. It’s doubtful, he says, that any decision made on the ground at the university will be life or death, but he still finds himself thinking like a pilot. $1.3 M ALLOCATED FOR REBRANDING

Initially, the $25 million will be used primarily for one-time spending initiatives, like rebranding and marketing the campus. For the 2021-2022 school year alone, $1.3 million has been set aside for rebranding/marketing efforts by Virginia-based SimpsonScarborough.

MASS EVICTION OF STUDENTS FALL 2023

On Oct. 25, Cal Poly Humboldt sent out a campus-wide announcement stating that they were going to start enforcing a previously overlooked parking policy. It said that students living in their vehicles on campus would have to find housing elsewhere due to 'unsanitary and unsafe conditions.' TOM JACKSON REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE STUDENT WELFARE
